More Creative Outlets from 2018

It’s fun (and often quite inspiring) to see how my coworkers use their creative minds for more than just the built environment. From charities to competitions to just plain fun, there is a lot of creativity happening throughout the year, and here are just a few examples.

In November, IIDA (International Interior Design Association) Gateway Chapter hosted a fashion show called Unravel. St. Louis design firms created and modeled their original designs using materials like carpet, tile, upholstery, etc. This year’s theme was “Couture Under the Big Top”.

In December, Lawrence Group participated in the annual We Care event sponsored by Herman Miller and Interior Investments St. Louis at the Herbert Hoover Boys’ & Girls’ Club. The We Care event enables children to let their creativity shine by making holiday gifts for family, teachers and friends at a variety of craft stations.

Also in November, a team from Lawrence Group helped upcycle older furniture into a porch swing for perennial “Lost + F(o)und”. The transformation was amazing!

At the Rocking a Stocking event hosted by Working Spaces and Kimball, St. Louis interior design firms competed to design and fill hand-made stockings benefitting families at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center. They had a record number of stockings this year with thousands of toys!

Other outlets include videos (a personal fave), photo contests, costumes (we are serious about Halloween!), and napkin sketch competitions. We also have several talented artists of different mediums, who somehow find the time to continue to develop their craft outside of working hours.

Creativity comes in many forms – hope you’re inspired to create something fun in 2019!
